Excel Bowl Caversham Road Reading

Situated in one of the best UK bowling centre locations, the Excel Bowl Reading opened 24th September 1963 alongside the banks of the River Thames. The centre boasted 24 AMF supplied lanes and machines, together with a snack bar and licensed members club.

The centre immediately became very busy with a number of leagues formed very quickly and, with its ideal location, proved extremely popular. In addition to the league bowling the centre also hosted a number of successful tournaments. The centre continued into the 1970’s but at the TBPA meeting of 7th August 1970 it was reported that the bowl had closed on 5th May 1970.
