By Tenpin Bowling Proprietors Association President John Ashbridge

When opened on 13th May 1964 this centre became the 14th in the Excel chain of bowling centres. Housed in a purpose-built building, overlooking the sea just to the east of Margate, the 24-lane AMF equipped centre enjoyed much early success. The centre remained with Excel Bowling until closure on 18th May 1970. Part of the building as later taken over by a local company and operated as a 12-lane bowling centre.
