History of Tenpin Bowling in the UK Part 113 – Dunstable bowl

By John Ashbridge, Tenpin Bowling Proprietors Association President

The history of this centre, if it actually existed, is sketchy to say the least. It is believed that it was to be a 20-lane centre planned by Lee-West Lanes to open in October 1965.  There is no reference to the centre in either of the British Tenpin Bowling Year Books for 1964-5 or 1965-67.  There is, however, a reference in the minutes of the Tenpin Bowling Proprietors Association meeting of 3rd February 1967 that the centre had been increased to 24 lanes. No other reference to the centre has been found.
